Connecting an entire Mumie course

Activity "Mumie course" in Moodle

  • Log in to Moodle as a teacher and navigate to your course.
  • Click on "Turn editing on". There is an entry "Mumie course" in the pulldown menu "Add an activity".
  • Select "Mumie course" from the menu and the screen "Add a new Mumie course" appears.

Creating a new activity "Mumie course"

  • In the screen you can fill in the form:\\
    • Name and description of the activity.
    • Mumie course: pulldown menu with all courses of the Mumie that are not connected to Moodle yet. The selected Mumie course will be linked to Moodle.
    • Worksheets show: you can choose whether Moodle displays an index page with the Mumie worksheets and exercises. If you select "with exercises" the index page is shown, if you select "without exercises" the page is not shown.
    • Group mode: the possible choices are "no Groups", "separate groups" or "visible groups".
    • Visible: The activity should is shown or hidden ("visible" or "hide").

  • When you click on "Save changes", Mumie is synchronized with Moodle. The following things happen:
    • A semester is created in the Mumie. The name of the semester is the same as the name of the category of the course in Moodle. If such a semester already exists, nothing happens.
    • A class with the name of the Moodle course is created in the Mumie. The class is added to the semester. If such a class already exists, nothing happens.
    • A tutorial is created in the Mumie and added to the class. If such a tutorial already exists, nothing happens.
    • The newly created class is assigned to the choosen "Mumie course".
    • All students and teachers of the course in Moodle are transmitted to the Mumie. They are added to the tutorial. Their lastnames, firstnames, emails, passwords and roles are synchronized.

Activity "Mumie exercise" in Moodle

  • Log in to Moodle as a teacher and navigate to your course.
  • Click on "Turn editing on". There is an entry "Mumie exercise" in the pulldown menu "Add an activity".
  • Select "Mumie exercise" from the menu and the screen "Add a new Mumie exercise" appears.

Creating a new activity "Mumie exercise"

  • In the screen you can fill in the form: \\
    • Name and a description of the activity.
    • Sections: groups the exercises in the Mumie.
    • Problems: pulldown menu with all the exercises of the Mumie. An exercise belongs to a section.
    • Mumie course: pulldown menu with all courses of the Mumie that are not connected to Moodle yet. The selected Mumie course will be linked to Moodle.
    • Available from and due date: start and closing time of the exercise. The students can edit and submit the exercise from the start until the closing time.
    • Grade: maximal points for the correct submitting of the exercise
    • Group mode: the possible choices are "no groups" "separate groups" or "visible groups".
    • Visible: The activity should is shown or hidden ("visible" or "hide").
  • When you click on "Save changes", Mumie is synchronized with Moodle. The following things happen:\\

    • A course/problem-wrapper is created in the Mumie. Maximum points, start and closing time of the exercise are set to the problem-wrapper.
    • The newly created class is assigned to the created course.
    • All students and teachers of the course in Moodle are transmitted to the Mumie. They are added to the tutorial. Their lastnames, firstnames, emails, passwords and roles are synchronized.

Gradebook and activities "Mumie course" and "Mumie exercise" in Moodle

Gradebook

  • Log in to Moodle as a teacher and navigate to your course.
  • Click on the link to the gradebook in the Moodle course overview. (New grades are indicated in the block "Recent activities" in the course overview).
  • The gradebook appears: you can see the grades of all students of the Moodle course. Grades of the attached Mumie exercises, Moodle quizzes and assignments are presented in a central place. There is one row per student and one column per Mumie exercise (or quiz, assignment).

  • If you click on the name of a Mumie exercise (column header) in the gradebook, you get more information about the exercise and the results.

Grades in the activity "Mumie course" or "Mumie exercise"

  • Log in to Moodle as a teacher and navigate to your course.
  • Click on the activity "Mumie course" or "Mumie exercise" in the Moodle course overview. (New grades are indicated in the block "Recent activities" in the course overview).
  • On the next screen you can click on the link "Show Results".
  • The grades are displayed: you can see the corrected scores for all exercises of the attached Mumie course (or Mumie exercise) for his students. There is one line per student and one column per Mumie exercise. Unlike students, teachers can also see results of exercises which closing time have not expired yet.

  • To see the feedback and further information about a result, click on one of the links in the grades table.
  • The feedback for the result appears: In the first column there is the solution of the student, in the second column the correct solution and in the third column further explanations.
